PAC-3 interceptors in Tokyo
TOKYO, Japan - Ground-based Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptors remain on standby at the premises of the Defense Ministry in Tokyo at 11:18 a.m. on April 13, 2012, even though the North Korean rocket launch earlier in the morning ended in failure. To brace for the possibility of rocket debris falling on Japanese territory, the ministry had deployed ground-based interceptors in Okinawa and in Tokyo. It also dispatched three Aegis-equipped destroyers carrying sea-based Standard Missile-3 interceptors to nearby waters.
