PAC-3 interceptor in Okinawa
MIYAKOJIMA, Japan - A Self-Defense Force member moves near a Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptor in Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture at 7:42 a.m. on April 13, 2012, shortly after North Korea fired a rocket at 7:38 a.m. To brace for the possibility of rocket debris falling on Japanese territory, the Defense Ministry had deployed ground-based interceptors in Okinawa and in Tokyo. It also dispatched three Aegis-equipped destroyers carrying sea-based Standard Missile-3 interceptors to nearby waters.
