Tokyo Gov. Ishihara in Washington
WASHINGTON, United States - Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara answers a reporter's question in Washington on April 17, 2012. He said his plan for the city to buy the disputed Senkaku Islands from their owners will benefit Japan through the development of fishery resources, while criticizing China over its territorial claim to the Japanese-controlled uninhabited islets in the East China Sea, saying Beijing's dispatch of fishery patrol boats to the vicinity is ''halfway to a declaration of war'' against Japan.
