Activist wanted by China visits embassy in U.S
WASHINGTON, United States - Wuer Kaixi, a renowned pro-democracy Chinese activist who has been wanted by Beijing, speaks with reporters in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington after his abortive attempt to turn himself in to the Chinese authorities on May 18, 2012. Wuer, one of the student leaders of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protest in Beijing who has been in exile in Taiwan, gave up surrendering to the authorities the same day after the embassy refused to respond to his visit.
