Kitakyushu starts trial incineration of quake-tsunami debris
KITAKYUSHU, Japan - Waste including debris from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan is burned in a trial at an incineration plant in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, on May 23, 2012. Opponents of the incineration cited fear of radioactive contamination as the disaster areas are closer to the disaster-struck Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
