American to ship back items lost in tsunami to Japan

David holds a soccer ball and Yumi holds a volleyball found by David in mid-March 2012 on the coast of Middleton Island off Alaska, after the balls floated across the Pacific Ocean after being swept away from northeastern Japan in the March 2011 tsunami. The couple initially expressed their intention to deliver the items back to their original owners in person during their upcoming trip to Japan, but have now opted to ship them instead in consideration of the owners' privacy, David Baxter told Kyodo News on May 23, 2012.
