Display of cats, dogs after 8 p.m. at pet shops banned
TOKYO, Japan - An employee at a pet shop in Tokyo's Odaiba waterfront area removes a dog from a cage on the night of June 1, 2012. An Environment Ministry ordinance that bans pet shop operators from displaying cats and dogs after 8 p.m. to relieve the animals of stress took effect the same day, following criticism by animal rights groups of outlets that stay open until late at night.
