New registration for foreigners starts

OSAKA, Japan - Foreigners line up to get new residence cards at the Osaka immigration bureau in Osaka on July 9, 2012. A new registration system for foreigners in Japan began that day, with those staying in the country longer than three months to be incorporated into the same residence registration system as Japanese citizens. The new system scrapped the 60-year-old alien registration cards.
