New registration for foreigners starts
NARITA, Japan - Photo shows a sample of a new residence card for foreigners. A new registration system for foreigners in Japan began on July 9, 2012, with those staying in the country longer than three months to be incorporated into the same residence registration system as Japanese citizens. The new system scrapped the 60-year-old alien registration cards.
