"Red snow" on Greenland glacier

QAANAAQ, Greenland - Members of a Japanese expedition team to the North Pole observe "red snow" on a Greenland glacier in the Arctic on July 17, 2012. They spotted an area of about 30 square meters colored red by the massive generation of microbes with red pigments as a result of rising temperatures.
