2nd day of protest foiled in Qidong
QIDONG, China - Police officers urge people to leave near a government office in Qidong, a coastal town in Jiangsu Province, China, on July 29, 2012. Over 5,000 people staged a demonstration the previous day in Qidong against an industrial waste water discharge project involving a Japanese company, forcing the local government to cancel the project. More than 2,000 police officers were deployed in the town on July 29, foiling a plan for a second day of protest.
