Journalist Yamamoto dead in Syrian clash
TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in November 2005 shows Mika Yamamoto, an award-winning veteran Japanese journalist, speaking about the significance of female journalists covering war, during a symposium in Tokyo. Yamamoto, 45, while covering the civil war in Syria, died Aug. 20, 2012, while accompanying the rebel Free Syrian Army, the Japanese government said Aug. 21. She was killed in Aleppo in northern Syria, during a clash between rebels and forces loyal to the Syrian government.
