Anti-Japan protests in China
SHANGHAI, China - Participants carry a sign and banner reading "rational patriotism" during an anti-Japanese demonstration near the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai on Sept. 18, 2012, the anniversary of a 1931 incident that led to Japan's invasion of China. Widespread demonstrations in China were triggered by Japan's purchase of three of the Japan-controlled Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, called the Diaoyu Islands in China, which also claims them.
