Subic Bay freeport zone

SUBIC BAY, Philippines - Photo taken on Nov. 23, 2012, shows the sprawling Subic Bay Freeport Zone in the northern Philippine province of Zambales, which was a U.S. Naval Base until 1992. Aside from the internal challenges it faces 20 years after its conversion into an economic hub, the freeport zone is also seen as playing a role in the Philippines' strategy in dealing with its heightening territorial row with China in the South China Sea.
