FIFA to showcase goal-line technology at Club World Cup

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Photo taken at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama on Dec. 5, 2012, shows a ball with an embedded sensor and a watch for referees used in GoalREF goal-line technology, which was successfully demonstrated to the media. GoalREF employs embedded wire coils that allow the exact position of a ball to be relayed to a referee's vibrating watch in under a second using a magnetic curtain draped around the goal. FIFA will unveil two systems of goal-line technology at the Club World Cup to be held from Dec. 6. GoalREF technology will be installed at the Yokohama stadium while the Hawk-Eye system will be given a run at Toyota Stadium outside Nagoya during the tournament.
