Algeria shows hostage crisis site to press
IN AMENAS, Algeria - Living quarters at a gas facility in In Amenas, eastern Algeria, on Jan. 31, 2013, show signs of fierce combat as the Algerian government shows the site of a recent hostage crisis to journalists for the first time since the incident. Islamist militants attacked the facility on Jan. 16 and the crisis ended violently four days later as the Algerian government decided to launch a full-scale assault. Thirty-seven foreign nationals who were held hostage and 29 militants died during the crisis.
