MANILA, Philippines - Former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos, known for her flamboyance and wide collection of shoes, speaks to Kyodo News at her father's ancestral residence in Manila City on Jan. 31, 2013. The 83-year-old incumbent lawmaker shared her personal experiences during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines up to World War II in the 1940s, her encounters with Japanese officials during her husband's reign from the 1960s up to the early 1980s, and her continuing admiration for the Japanese people and their culture.
