Hashimoto clarifies remarks on WWII sex slavery

OSAKA, Japan - Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto speaks before reporters at the Osaka city offices on May 15, 2013, in a bid to clarify his remarks regarding the forcing of women into sexual servitude for Japanese soldiers during World War II, saying he personally does not condone the system.

Mabalacat is where an airfield was located where, on Oct. 25, 1944, Lt. Yukio Seki led the first "kamikaze" attack fleet against U.S. warships in Leyte Gulf. About 150 Japanese and Filipinos attended the ceremony.

                      SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea's Association for the Pacific War Victims releases footage of 1993 interviews with women known as former "comfort women" on Sept. 15, 2014, in Seoul. The interviews were conducted at the office of the association in July 1993 by the Japanese government with victims of World War II sexual slavery to produce a 1993 apology known as the Kono statement.
