UNESCO formally names Mt. Fuji as World Heritage site
FUJIYOSHIDA, Japan - Children celebrate in front of a painting of Mt. Fuji on an outer wall of the municipal government office of Fujiyoshida, a Yamanashi Prefecture city located north of the 3,776-meter mountain on June 22, 2013, after the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO decided to inscribe Japan's iconic mountain on the U.N. agency's prestigious World Heritage List.
