Historian proposes new theory regarding 1613 Keicho mission

SENDAI, Japan - Photo taken July 8, 2013, in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, shows Naotsugu Hamada, director of the Keicho Mission Ship Museum in the city, who has studied documents pertaining to the Keicho Mission sent in 1613 by Sendai feudal lord Date Masamune to Europe to negotiate direct trade with Mexico. The documents have been registered by UNESCO as valuable records in its Memory of the World documentary heritage program.
