28th anniversary of JAL jet crash
UENO, Japan - Children pray after tolling a bell for the souls of the victims of the 1985 Japan Airlines jumbo jet at the crash site called Osutaka Ridge in the village of Ueno, Gunma Prefecture, on Aug. 12, 2013, the 28th anniversary of the accident. All but four of the 524 passengers and crew on board were killed when the Boeing 747 flying from Tokyo to Osaka crashed. It was the worst single-aircraft accident ever.
