Yasukuni Shrine on anniv. of Japan's WWII defeat
TOKYO, Japan - Koichi Hagiuda, aide to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and lawmaker of the Liberal Democratic Party, visits Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Aug. 15, 2013. Abe arranged for the aide to take a monetary offering to the World War II-related Shinto shrine on the anniversary of Japan's surrender in the war. Abe made the ritual offering as LDP president, not as prime minister, Hagiuda said.
