1st female secretary to premier
TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Makiko Yamada, deputy director general for IT strategy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has decided to appoint the 53-year-old senior official at the economy ministry as his secretary, making Yamada the first woman to serve as a prime ministerial secretary in postwar Japan, a government source said Nov. 29, 2013.
