Compulsory education extended in N. Korea
PYONGYANG, North Korea - New first-year pupils attend class at a primary school in Pyongyang on April 1, 2014. The duration of primary school education was extended to five years from four years in North Korea the same day, Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency reported. As a result of the change made in line with a decision at the Supreme People's Assembly, or parliament, in September 2012, the duration of compulsory education was extended to 12 years from 11 years.
