STAP paper co-author Sasai commits suicide

KOBE, Japan - Photo shows Japanese scientist Yoshiki Sasai, a co-author of controversial research papers on so-called STAP cells. He committed suicide on Aug. 5, 2014, at an institute of the government-affiliated Riken in the western Japan city of Kobe.

              Researchers check tritium levels in fish taken from waters off Fukushima Prefecture at the Marine Ecology Research Institute's facility in Tagajo in neighboring Miyagi Prefecture, northeastern Japan, on Aug. 26, 2023, two days after Japan commenced the discharge of treated radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.
