Woman prays for animals killed by 2011 disaster
SENDAI, Japan - A woman prays in front of a cenotaph built in memory of animals killed by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami of 2011 on the premises of the Miyagi Veterinary Medical Association in Sendai, northeastern Japan, during its unveiling ceremony on Sept. 23, 2014. Some 20,000 dogs and cats, 580 cows, and 2,900 pigs were among animals killed in the disaster, according to the association.
