Synthesized fluorite possible substitute for imports

OSAKA, Japan - Iwatani Corp. announces in Osaka, western Japan, on Oct. 14, 2014, the development of technology to synthesize fluorite used to produce lenses for digital cameras and astronomical telescopes. Iwatani hopes to mass produce the product to stabilize supply in the domestic fluorite market dominated by imports.
