Japanese groups bring messages of hope to Haiyan survivors
MANILA, Philippines - Artistically pierced bamboo poles emit light from inserted candles on Nov. 7, 2014, in front of a Catholic church in the central Philippine province Leyte. The event was introduced by some Japanese groups to bring messages of hope as Filipinos marked the following day the first anniversary of super typhoon Haiyan that claimed thousands of lives and left a massive devastation on properties and infrastructure.
