Lights lit to recreate row of cherry trees in vacated zone
TOKYO, Japan - Numerous lights arranged in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, light up the night on Dec. 5, 2014, to recreate an image of the famous Yonomiri row of cherry trees in the prefectural town of Tomioka before the official start of the illumination the following night. The third event of its kind is aimed at encouraging some 20,000 people or more evacuated to Iwaki from municipalities around Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi power plant following the nuclear disaster.
