Bird flu virus detected in Miyazaki, 4,000 chickens culled
MIYAZAKI, Japan - Miyazaki Gov. Shunji Kono (2nd from R) attends a task force meeting on Dec. 16, 2014, at the prefectural government offices after three chickens tested positive for a highly pathogenic H5 strain of avian influenza at a farm in the southwestern Japan prefecture. The prefectural government said it plans to complete necessary procedures, including burying roughly 4,000 culled chickens at the farm.
