Cartoonist Tezuka's characters used to promote fencing

TOKYO, Japan - The Japan Fencing Federation unveils in Tokyo on Jan. 12, 2015, new characters produced jointly with Tezuka Productions Co., an animation production company created by the late cartoonist Osamu Tezuka, for use in a publicity blitz for the sport. The characters include "Astro Boy" while Yuki Ota, a two-time Olympic foil silver medalist, and six other medalists will also be drawn as Tezuka characters for the campaign.

Ota, 22, is scheduled to start working as a marketing official on Nov. 1, while continuing his fencing career with an eye on competing in the London Olympic Games in 2012.
