In the Netherlands, the last Saturday before Christmas is "Super Saturday," when many Dutch people choose to do their shopping for Christmas.
Figures from Dutch market research agency GfK showed that Dutch households are buying fewer Christmas items this year as inflation has pushed up prices.
The prices of Christmas items such as baubles, garlands and lightings have increased by double digits in the past two years. Artificial Christmas trees, for instance, are 10 percent more expensive this year.
According to analysis, Dutch households are expected to buy less than last year but spend about the same - around 112 million euros in total.
