Tanabata star festival starts in Sendai

SENDAI, Japan, Aug. 6 Kyodo - People walk on a shopping street in the northeastern Japan city of Sendai under colorful streamers of the Tanabata star festival on Aug. 6, 2017, the opening day of the three-day event. About 2.15 million people are expected to visit the city to see the largest and most famous Tanabata celebrations in Japan.
