1st Japanese conducts Rome Opera House orchestra
ROME, Italy - Hirofumi Yoshida (C) takes a curtain call after becoming the first Japanese to conduct the orchestra of the Rome Opera House in the open air at the Baths of Caracalla ruins on Aug. 8. Yoshida, 38, conducted the orchestra for Sergei Prokofiev's ballet ''Romeo and Juliet'' and Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera ''Pagliacci.''
