Quake-hit Niigata school cuts short vacation, resumes classes
KASHIWAZAKI, Japan - Minamisabaishi elementary school pupils on their way to school as their school in earthquake-stricken Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture decided to cut short this year's summer vacation and resume classes to make up for delays caused by last month's earthquake. After the quake, all 39 elementary and junior high schools in the city were closed.
