Vice farm minister Kobayashi resigns
TOKYO, Japan - Yoshio Kobayashi (L), who has resigned as Japan's vice farm minister, and his successor Toshiro Shirasu attend a news conference in Tokyo on Sept. 7. Kobayashi had been criticized for not tackling the misuse of farm subsidies by a farmers' association, which forced Takehiko Endo to resign as farm minister on Sept. 4, only a week after he was appointed to the post.
