STORYLINE:
An Iraqi female ensemble held its first concert on Thursday evening at the Iraqi National Theater in Baghdad.
The newly formed ensemble of female musicians, named Sumeryat Musical Ensemble and led by Maestro Alaa Majeed, performed many pieces of Iraqi folk music and songs.
The ensemble's 49-member female musicians mainly use traditional musical instruments and some modern instruments.
The concert was attended by the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakkak al-Badrani, and a large audience.
