STORYLINE:
An agreement was recently signed between France's gas distributor GRDF and trade union CGT to end a six-week strike amid purchasing power crisis.
The agreement provides for the payment in 2023 of an exceptional monthly bonus of at least 50 euros. This bonus will supplement the provisions approved this fall to reach a total of at least 200 euros monthly.
SOUNDBITE (French): SIMON DEPALLE, Assistant chief operating officer at GRDF & CGT activist
"It's not because of us that gas prices are rising. The money from the increase does not come back to us. We would just like to live well on our salary with this inflation which is galloping."
