The resort immediately organized a team to monitor the animal's movements to ensure the safety of all tourists. Tourists were warned not to panic, and not to feed, scare or chase the snow leopard if they encounter it. Snow leopards are under China's highest national-level protection, and are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. They can be spotted in alpine areas in China's southwestern, northwestern and northern regions, including Tibet, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia. The number of snow leopards is slowly increasing, and they can be spotted more frequently thanks to years of protection
