A Mexican expert has predicted that the permanence of Title 42 and the new immigration measures recently announced by the U.S. will maintain a high number of migrant detentions and socioeconomic costs for Mexico.
The U.S. Supreme Court in last December temporarily halted the expiration of Title 42, a U.S. public health authority that also allows border officials to swiftly expel migrants and asylum-seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
