The first month of 2023 was marred by a spate of shootings in the U.S.
U.S. media reports said that the U.S. has now had more mass shootings in 2023 than at this point in any year on record.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, a website that tracks shootings nationwide, the United States has reported 3,507 deaths from gun violence in the first 30 days of 2023 with 51 mass shootings recorded.
11 people were killed after a shooting in Monterey Park in Southern California on Jan. 21.
