Pairs of spoon-billed sandpipers were recently spotted on a beach in Fangchenggang City in China's Guangxi.
Spoon-billed sandpipers are a critically endangered species and under top-level protection in China.

"Spoon-billed sandpipers' appearance in Fangchenggang City indicates that our city could provide an important habitat for them. Many of them breed in Russia. But before that, they need to mate. Therefore, in this regard, Fangchenggang plays an important role in the protection of spoon-billed sandpipers."
