STORYLINE:
Thousands of people gathered in India's capital New Delhi on Wednesday to celebrate the festival of Holi.
The annual festival, also known as the "festival of colors," is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
The festivities began early in the morning, as people gathered in parks, streets, and open spaces, armed with colored powders and water guns, ready to paint the town in various colors.
They danced to the beat of drums, sang traditional songs, and smeared each other with gulal (colored powder).
Holi is celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Phalguna, which falls in late February or early March.
