STORYLINE:
The Shui script is the unique pictographic writing system used by the Shui people in southwest China to keep records of their culture.
Migrating to settle in the mountains of southern Guizhou around the 3rd century BC, Shui people have coined over 2,000 characters of Shui script, also known as the "living fossil of pictograph."
The Shui script is one of the few pictographic writing systems still in use. In 2006, it was listed as
