STORYLINE:
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has said in an interview that the U.S. government has "full access" to the social media platform's user data, including private direct messages (DMs).
He said, "The degree to which government agencies effectively had full access to everything that was going on on Twitter blew my mind."
Since taking over the company last fall, Musk has sought to expose the platform's previous management.
A series of "Twitter Files" released at the end of last year disclosed the U.S. government's involvement in the social media company's content moderation.
Many netizens tweeted that the news is not surprising and expressed worries about their freedom of speech.
