STORYLINE:
The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) commemorated its 50th anniversary on Wednesday with a grand parade in the capital city Valletta.
Approximately 150 AFM personnel participated in the parade, which took place mainly at St. George's Square in Valletta. This display featured the formation of the letters "AFM" and the number "50" to mark the anniversary.
It was on April 19, 1973, when the Malta Land Forces officially became the Armed Forces of Malta. The army has some 2,000 soldiers. Given that Malta is a neutral country, as enshrined in its constitution, the army does not participate in any conflicts.
