Long-tailed Macaques In Indonesia

YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA - MAY 15: Baby long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) are sold at an animal market in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on May 15, 2023. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, the long-tailed macaque and pig-tailed macaque are officially declared as endangered in the wild. But in Indonesia, the suffering of these species continues as they are still not protected. Baby monkeys are taken from the forest by killing their mothers and traded at the animal market. Some end up as street beggars and some become pets and are exploited as content material on YouTube. (Photo by Agoes Rudianto/NurPhoto)
