Emergency services in Murcia reported receiving almost 120 calls, mainly due to trapped vehicles and flooded basements, although fortunately no loss of life has so far been reported. The intense rainfall came after Spain suffered one of the driest springs since records began, with the second hottest and driest March on record this century.
