Voters In Pisa For Municipal Election Runoff

A nun vote in Pisa, Italy, on May 28, 2023. Polls open from 7 a.m. for municipal elections runoff in 41 cities and for the first round of municipal elections in Sicily and Sardinia. Polls will remain open until 11 p.m. and reopen Monday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. A total of 1,340,688 voters are involved in the ballots. They will vote for one of the two candidates in 7 capitals: Vicenza, Massa, Pisa, Siena, Terni, Ancona, and Brindisi. First-round voting also occurs in 128 Sicilian municipalities, including Trapani, Syracuse, Ragusa, and Catania. The runoff is scheduled for Sunday, June 11, and Monday, June 12. Similar schedule in Sardinia, where voters will go to the polls for the first round of municipal elections in 39 centres. In Pisa, the contention is between Michele Conti (49.96 per cent, centre-right) and Paolo Martinelli (41.12 per cent, supported by centre-left and Movimento 5 Stelle).
