Mongolia celebrated the International Children's Day on Thursday with colorful activities and programs, vowing to safeguard the rights and interests of children and draw public attention to the challenges facing them.
"The International Children's Day is a day to raise the public awareness of children's rights and well-being. Under the motto of 'Children First,' the Mongolian government has been paying special attention to protecting the rights of children and creating a better society for them," Khurelbaatar Bulgantuya, minister of labor and social protection, said at the opening ceremony of celebrations in the central square of the national capital Ulan Bator.
About one-third of Mongolia's 3.4 million population are children under the age of 18, according to the National Statistics
